Although a broad vision is to include multiple sports, it is through our experience that we come to realize it must begin with a more focused vision, one sport. We have chosen soccer. Why Soccer? Across the country soccer is the #1 youth sport. It's also the #1 sport worldwide. Soccer is a sport that appeals to children of all ages especially young children. Every child loves to kick a ball. It's simple and they gain confidence easily. In a diverse community like ours, it provides an opportunity for children to participate in a sport played all over the world. Some facts... Registration through US Youth Soccer is more than 3.2 million players annually, ages 5 to 19, with over 900,000 administrators, coaches and volunteers in 55 member state associations. In the U.S., New York is the second leading soccer state with 1.3 million participants. In Eastern New York there are over 130,000 members. Over 80,000 of those players play in the LIJSL. Our goals... To create a safe, strong, solid program, for the youth of our community to learn and develop in as players and individuals on and off the fields. Open to any and all that wish to participate. A program that will continue for as long as it's community exists. Riverhead Soccer Club and it's coaches strive to attract players and parents with these common interests:
Riverhead Soccer Club is a not-for-profit organization. It was established for the specific purpose of developing a competitive youth soccer program whose goals are to achieve the utmost success, as well as developing players capable of receiving college scholarships based on their playing ability and academic achievement. However, realization of these goals must be accomplished within the proper framework by instilling character, self-esteem, confidence, and sportsmanship within the youth athlete. Achievement of these lofty and worthwhile objectives within the appropriate environment can only be reached through the mature behavior and exemplary conduct of the coaches, parents, and officials of the Club. Their relationship with the players must be of the highest ethical and moral standards and be based upon concern and just principles that ensure equitable treatment prevail in all circumstances.
